Complete Clinical Guide to Implant Prosthetics Lab
For dentists and implant surgeons
We do not place implants. Dentists and implant surgeons send us their patients, and we design, make and fit the prosthesis in our own lab at 88 Winifred Street, Oak Park.
Most of our work is removable dentures for our own patients. Implant prosthetics is the part of the lab that serves other practices, and we keep it simple. The surgical side stays with you. The prosthetic side is ours, from records to the final fit.
Cases we take
Implant overdentures. Lower or upper dentures that clip onto two to four implants with locator or bar attachments. This is the most common referral we see, and it is the same work as our snap-on dentures for patients. Full-mouth cases are covered on our full-arch implant prosthetics page.
All-on-4 and All-on-5. Full-arch prostheses on four or five implants. Tell us the implant system, the multi-unit abutments and the angulation when you refer.
3-on-6. Three bridge segments on six implants, so each segment can be removed or repaired on its own.
Immediate-load cases. A provisional prosthesis around the surgery date, then the final prosthesis once the implants have integrated. These need planning with us well before surgery so the timing works.
Who does what
Your practice handles diagnosis, CBCT planning, surgery and the implant components.
Our lab takes the prosthetic records, runs the try-ins with the patient, makes the prosthesis and fits it. If something chips or cracks later, the same lab repairs it, usually without the patient waiting weeks for an outside lab.
How a referral works
- Call us on (03) 9306 5432, ideally before surgery. Give us the implant system, the number and position of implants and the planned surgical date.
- We see the patient for prosthetic records and to agree tooth shape and shade.
- Try-in. The patient tries the set-up before we finish it, so the bite and appearance are confirmed.
- Fit and review. We fit the prosthesis and see the patient again to check comfort and bite.
We quote each case before any work starts and agree billing with the referring practice.
If you are a patient
If your dentist or surgeon referred you, call reception and mention their name. We will book your first visit around your surgery dates.
If you have not had implants and are still weighing up options, start with your dentist. We do not do implant surgery. If a removable option suits you better, our full dentures and snap-on dentures pages explain the choices. The rest of our lab work is on the dental laboratory page.
