How Much Does Denture Repair Cost in Melbourne? 2026 Prices From Our Lab

Updated: 7 October 2026
Oak Park Prosthetist Team
"A straight crack through an acrylic plate is a quick, cheap fix. A denture that keeps breaking in the same place is telling you something else. Here are our 2026 repair fees and how to tell the difference."

The short answer

Most denture repairs at our Oak Park lab cost between $99 and $280. Repairs with several breaks, a new clasp or replacement teeth cost $220 to $420. Most are done while you wait, in one to two hours.

The rest of this page explains what moves a repair from the low end to the high end, and when paying for a repair is the wrong decision.

2026 repair and reline fees

JobFeeUsual turnaround
Simple repair (single crack or clean break)$99 to $2801 to 2 hours
Complex repair (several breaks, clasp, or teeth)$220 to $420Same day in most cases
Add a tooth or clasp to an existing denture$180 to $3801 to 2 weeks if an impression is needed
Hard reline$290 to $4901 to 2 days
Soft reline$340 to $540Same day

These are the same figures as our full price list. You get a firm quote before we start, once we have looked at the break.

What makes a repair cost more

Missing pieces. If the denture snapped cleanly and you have both halves, we line them up and bond them. If a chunk is missing, we have to rebuild that section, which takes longer.

A tooth that came out of the plate. Usually we can set the original tooth back in. If it is lost or broken, we fit a new one and match the shade, which costs a bit more.

A broken metal clasp. Replacing a wire clasp on an acrylic partial is routine. On a chrome cobalt partial the metal frame itself may need soldering or replacing, and that is a bigger job.

Old, brittle acrylic. A denture that is ten or fifteen years old can crack again right next to the repair. We will tell you if we think that is likely.

Adding a tooth after an extraction. If a natural tooth that held your partial has just been taken out, we need an impression of your mouth to add a replacement tooth in the right spot. That turns a same-day repair into a short lab job.

Please do not glue it

We see this every month. Superglue and hardware epoxy leave a film in the crack that stops a proper lab bond, and the glue itself is not meant to sit in your mouth. A glued denture often costs more to repair than a clean break. Our superglue warning explains why in more detail.

Wrap the pieces in a tissue, put them in a container and bring them in.

When a repair is the wrong spend

A denture that breaks once after a drop on the bathroom tiles just needs a repair.

A denture that keeps cracking down the middle is different. That usually means it no longer sits evenly on your gums. Your gums and jawbone shrink slowly after teeth are lost, the plate starts to rock, and the stress concentrates in one line. Fix the crack without fixing the fit and it will crack again. In that case a reline at the same time is the better spend.

If the denture is more than seven or eight years old, the teeth are worn flat and it has been repaired several times, we will be straight with you about whether a new denture is better value. That is your call, not ours. We give you both prices and you decide.

Who pays

DVA Gold Card holders are covered for clinically necessary repairs and relines.

Private health extras usually pay a rebate on repairs and relines. How much depends on your fund and level of cover. We claim through HICAPS at the desk, so you only pay the gap.

Victorian Denture Scheme vouchers can be used for relines and additions for eligible patients. Simple repairs are usually paid privately or through your fund.
